Our Environment:

Workstation :
Windows NT 4 Workstation
Visual Basic 6, SP4
ADO 2.5
Open Client 12.0
Sybase ODBC version 3.50.00.10 (EBF 8819)
Sybase OLE DB Provider

Server:
Sybase ASE 11.9.2 on Sun Solaris

I have a simple stored procedure :

create proc test_sp
@paramint int
@paramout varchar(10) output
as
select @paramout='TEST'
select * from TOTO
return 999

First question :
In ADO, i use the COMMAND.REFRESH to get the properties of parameters
(return value, input and output parameter).
Why i get only the name of the parameter using OLE DB ?
Why i don't get the good type of parameter using ODBC ? I always get the
type 'adVarBinary' (and not 'adinteger' or 'advarchar') !!!

Second question :
In ADO, using ODBC, when i execute the stored procedure test_sp whithout
the line "select * from TOTO",
i get the good values for output parameter('TEST') and return value(999).
But if i execute the stored procedure test_sp whith the line "select * from
TOTO",
i get the recordset but not the value for the output parameter and return
value. WHY ????????

Thanks in advance.

you will need to use cmd.execute to get return value & output
then set rst= cmd.execute

Not pretty but...

Did you manage to solve this sproblem. I am encountering similar symptoms
with the ADO Refresh, i.e I always get AdVarBinary for every paremeter
type.
My setup is
Sybase ASE 11.9.2
Windows NT SP6A
ADO 2.6
Sybase ODBC driver 3.11.00.22
