I want to upgrade a SQL Anywhere Studio version 5 database to a version 8
database. I am tring to connect to the version 5 database and it says in
order to do this i have to unload my db and reload my db; i do this and I
still cannot connect. Is there an easier way to do this?

Thanks,
Scott

Scott,

When you unloaded and reloaded the database, did you reload it into a ASA 8
database or back into a SQL Anywhere 5.5 database? As a starting point
check the ASA 8 documentation for information on the dbunload command and
it's usage. Of particular interest to you would probably be the -ar and
-an switches.

This is a good question to post to the newsgroup
sybase.public.sqlanywhere.general which is focused on ASA and SQL Anywhere.

When you post there, please provide:

1) Version and Build Number of 8.x
2) What options you chose when walking through the Unload/Reload wizard
3) The name of the original database
4) The name of the rebuilt database (this should be different from the
original database)
5) The connection parameters you use when trying to connect to the rebuilt
database.
