I'm having problems updgrading from 11.0.3.3 to 11.9.2 with NT GPF errors. The
error message is related to compaq insight managers. INS0432_MP.exe.

Has anyone had a similar problem?

Thanks

Deepak.

Compaq insight agents cause all manner of problems with Sybase. It isn't
Sybase's fault, rather the way these compaq things work. All problems I have
had with the agents were memory related, and if you are getting a GPF, then
again this is a memory issue.

I remember reading a Sybase write-up on this, but I can't remember the
document name.

Can't you just turn them off? At a company I was at previously, that was the
work-around.

Andy

Can't believe every SP runs about a 1/3 slower, your app maintains the
connection or constantly open/close..
I did notice some SPs could table scan due to datatype incompatability.
After upgrades, did you do anything special, ex. row level locking etc, more
16K pool.

Nothing extra was changed at the Sybase side. However, somebody has been
tweaking the NT side of things and had changed the array accelerator options on
one of the processors to 25%read - as the application that I have upgraded is
read intensive then this seems a bit daft. This has now been changed to what it
should have been and am currently retesting timings.

Did notice some changed query plans due to tightening of datatype rules - so
much for backwar/forward compatibility !!.

cheers

I've actually disabled all compaq services and removed some of the compaq
programs from the control panel.

However the upgrade is still not working..

The GPF has stopped but when all files are downloaded to disk the message box
states ' working.... Please Wait'. The system hangs there and nothing else
happens..

Any more help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Deepak.
