I was trying to do a 302 trace on a query. When I issue the dbcc traceon
(3604,302) I get the following message

"DBCC execution completed. If DBCC printed error messages, contact a user
with System Administrator (SA) role."

But with the set showplan, noexec on I do not get any output from the dbcc.
The only output I get are from the showplan (identical to what I get if I
had done the whole process without issuing the dbcc command). This is on
ASE 11.5.1 / NT 4.0 platform.
We have an identical set up on a different machine and the dbcc works fine
there and I get the query processing details.

Any clues on why this is happenning? Much appreciated.

Hello,

Do you turn on the dbcc before noexec? Make sure you do. Is this a proc? If so
exec it with recompile. If either of these don't apply post exactly what
you're doing.

Eric, thanks.
As I was carrying out your suggestions (dbcc before noexec) I noticed that
the table on the new server had dropped the index on the fields in my
query! With the index rebuilt I get the dbcc output.
