I am running an application that runs a local database (Sybase SQL Anywhere
Database Engine Version 5.5.03) on each client. I am trying to access this
database through another session, but am only allowed one connection to the
database at a time. I thought that with the -gn flag you were able to have
a max of 10 concurrent connection to a personal database. Is this not the
case?

-gn has nothing to do with number of concurrent users.
dbeng50 allows single computer connections only
dbsrv50 in conjuction with dbclient is used for concurrent connections
