Receiving error when trying to create a text index on a field that is
defined with a user defined data type. If change the field to a
varchar, the text index creates correctly. These indexes created with
no problems in Sybase 12.5.

Always a good idea to post
* the SQL / DDL that you are having a problem with
* post the error message / error code

See

for some options.

Found out the real issue is:

Datatype longsysname is not supported in a text index.

Guess the only workaround is to change the fields with the user
defined datatype of longsysname to varchar (a number)

Thanks
