I am an Oracle Developer and never worked with Sybase.
In a short time I have to learn the basics of Sybase Administration and
Back Up. Where should I start? First of all, what software do I need to
download? SQL Server? Adoptive Server Enterprise? Are they both Database
Servers? As you can see, I'm as clueless as it gets...
I appreciate any information you can give me.

I'm a fairly new user myself, and what I have noticed is that there is a
trial version of Adaptive Server Enterprise ASE 12 (latest and greatest
Sybase SQL Database server app.) , you do have to fill out some
registration info first, but it's all on their website.

Also, check out the online manuals and download the installation and system
admin guides, they are good as well (they are zipped PDF format)

That's a start I hope

Cheers,

Geoff
