I am trying to increase the total memory from 781.25 MB(400000). Any value
above that and the server does not start. I get the following message in the
Event Log:

3438: NT OS error 5 in module
'e:/1151rolling/porttree/sql/nt386/ksource/blkmem/osmntmmap.c' at line 485:
Access is denied.

The computer is a Compaq Proliant 5500R, Quad Pentium II 500 MHZ with 2 GB
of RAM, running NT 4 SP 5.

Sybase version is 11.5.1 SWR 8308.

Thank you in advance

Sounds to me like Compaq Insight Agent is holding your shared memory segment
from a previous ASE run and not letting it grow above the 'old' size. Try
recycling Insight agent or rebooting the NT box.

cheers,
