I noticed that the Java version of SybCentral doesn't allow you to
specify an ASE's monitor server. The classic SybCentral version *does*
allow this, but the Java version simply doesn't have the monserver tab
in its Properties screen.
Could I request this to be added ? It means that using monserver is
not really possible with SybCentral (Java) -- I don't want to write my
own app based on the monitor client library...

HTH,

Rob

If you want to use the Monitor GUI (SCJE doesnot have support to this
automatically), I suggest try the following

1) set JAVA_HOME to JDK 1.1.8 (this is what I tested with. I've not
tried with JDK 1.2.X)

2) set PATH=%JAVA_HOME%\bin;%PATH%

3) copy 3pclass.zip from your %SYBASE%\ASEP directory.

4) set your CLASSPATH and point zip files in your classpath
set CLASSPATH=<DRIVENAME>:<PATHNAME>/monclass.zip;<DRIVENAME>:<PATHNAME>/3pcl

ass.zip;%JAVA_HOME%\lib\runtime.zip

5) Do the following to start

java sybase.monclt.mcgui.procact.ProcActApp SQL_SERVER_NAME \
12.5 MS_SERVER_NAME sa "" en 0 scssen.hlp

6) From here you can follow the File Menu and monitor other counters.

We are looking at it. This is a known issue since we
released SCJE in 12.5.
