Salvador,

I opened a problem report with Sybase on this a few months ago and got the
run around that they couldn't reproduce it and that it must be my setup
(although I had the problem on both a Windows XP and Windows 2000 machine)
that I finally closed the problem in disgust.

Hi Michael,

Many of the folks in the Support and the Services group use XP, so I
know that Sybase Central and DBISQL do run on XP. Since you are still seeing
problems with it there has to be something different in the configuration of
the machines where it isn't working compared to the ones where it is
working. That could be something to do with the class path information, or
other environment variables, or it could be something more subtle. If you
would like to re-open the case let me know what the case number was and I'll
have someone follow up with you.

Robert,

I'll look into it. The problem I was having is that I can run Sybase
Central and connect to to a local db one time. After that, I always get an
error saying that not enough information to start the engine type error. As
soon as I reboot and try again it works 1 time.

This would be a good question to post to the newsgroup
sybase.public.sqlanywhere.general which is more highly focused on ASA and
SQL Anywhere Studio.
When you post the question to that group please ensure that you tell us:

1) What version of SQL Anywhere Studio you are using
2) What version and build number of Sybase Central you are using
3) What version and build number of the ASA plug-in you are using
4) What exact error or problem you are encountering.

The more details you can provide, the more likely it is that we will be
able to help you out.
