I am trying to extract the 12.5.03 ebf but I keep getting checksum errors.
Does anyone have some coaching that can enable me to untar this file?

Are you using the recommended GNUtar, or standard tar?

GNU tar can be obtained for the Sun Solaris platform at
http://www.sunfreeware.com
