Hello, any ideas on how to fix the error below...

I am trying to install ASE 11.5 on a Compaq DL580, NT 4, RAID 5 on 3
drives plus 1 online spare with a Compaq smartcard 5300 with
a 128 mb cache...

Had to resort to this after normal install from CD failed...

I saw a topic from back in 1999 about the same thing although how it was
solved was never posted...

thanks,
dean@dentalxchange.com

This is an internal error. It's fixed in the latest ESD to the 11.9.x line
but not in 11.5 as that version is out of support. You can work around it in
a slightly tricky way by building your master device on some other
(non-raid) disk and then manually copying the master.dat to the raid array
and updating the ASE startup -d parameter (either in the registry or in the
batch file).

Note once you get the master device built, it will run fine on the raid
array. This problem only affects buildmaster when creating master devices on
certain models of Compaq and IBM raid arrays.

HTH,
