I am currently running sql server 11.0.2 and want to upgrade to ASE 12.
Just wanted to know which method is the easiest and less problematic..
Either upgrade in place or dump/load?

Are there any extra concerns or issues with upgrading to ASE 12 that I can
avoid?

Thanks.

use dump/load - and don't forget to run dbcc afterwards. This seems say way
Sybase prefers, and although an upgrade is included, there are many problems
with stored procs not running without reload.

recreate your devices in exactly the same size and create the databases in
the same order as before.
Dumps contain also segment information and the load will confuse the data
and log segments, if there are differences. You will need to transform the
master with another method (i.e. migrate logins and users), since dump/load
will not work here.

I hope that my dump/load 'wizard' will do this work (upgrade 11.0.5 to 12 on
NT) for most of the 400 customers, who use our application, without
problems...
