I have two questions to ask for your help.

1. I tried to install Sybase 12.0 for NT onto my computer (Win2k)
But it turned out an unhandled exception when syconfig.
Can Sybase 12.0 for NT only be installed on Win NT4.0 (>=SP#4)?

2. I had MS SQL server2000 installed on my computer. After installation of
Sybase, the SQL server is corrupted. I was told that the system DLLs of SQL
server might be overwritten by DLLs of Sybase. So is there any trick that I
can use to install both of the servers on one machine?

I would very much appreciate your help!

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Qian

I have ASE 11.5 and SQL Sever 6.5 on the same server and there are no conflicts. I know
these aren't the same versions you mentioned but I thought I would at least show that they
can co-exist.

Regarding your exception. Change the system date to something in July, then redo the
install. Or, make sure you apply the latest maintenance release before running syconfig.
There is a bug there for a time period something like Feb 1 through May 1. The current
maintenance release fixes that problem.

Thanks very much! This is a big help. Someone also told me he had
Sybase11.9 and SQL 7 installed on his machine without problem.

But After installing ASE12.0, my SQL 2000 server did get corrupted. Do not
know if anybody report this problem. Could shed any light on this?

I appreciate it!

Regards,

Qian

I have ASE 12.0 running just fine on my Win2K Pro laptop but no SQL 2000 there. What part
got corrupted? The ODBC versions might be mismatched and the ASE install might over-write
the existing ODBC files but I'm just guessing.

Hi,

I've got 2 instances of SQL Server 2000 on an NT4 server and then installed
ASE 12.

No problems with either environment at the moment.
