I want to update master.db , but it' show I need to use sqlserver with
single user mode!

To update something in the master DB, you actually don't need to start
the server in single-user mode: just run "sp_configure "allow
updates", 1" and run your updates. Obviously, be very careful ,
because you may loose your server if you make mistakes here !
To answer your question anyway, starting the server in single-user
mode is done by adding the option "-m" to the RUN_YOURSERVERNAME.bat
file. On NT, you must then start the server by executing this file (it
will run in the foreground). To start it as a service in single-user
mode, yu must use the Server Config tool to add the "-m" paramater,
but I think the above method is more practical.
