Hi,

I'm trying to install the 12.0 65 day version which I downloaded last week.
I can get up to the stage where it asks for the network address for the
server and xp_server, but I get stuck there. First, how do I verify what
my network address is? What port? could the installation stop there
without giving out an error because of that?

thx,

Yuval

If you are only planning to access the database server from the same machine you can set up
your configuration like I have set up mine on my laptop. Note that when you specify the
address you also need to specify the port with a comma between the two.

Hello, Jim!
If I'm not mistaken, but you have ASE12_JPE & ASE12_JPE_XP servers on the
same port number 5000.
How do they work?

Hmm, good question. Beats me. But it works. I just tested it. Maybe it's an NT thing?

May be, because of different protocols (TCP vs NLWNSCK)?

I don't know. I do have mine configured to use 127.0.0.1 since it is a laptop and I really
don't want anyone connecting to my database server.

use your workstation name or ip and pick a port like 4201 for example.

if you need your ip

start->run[cmd]

c:\winnt> ipconfig

the ip will show up, if you want your machine name

c:\winnt> echo %computername%

George
