When trying to connect to the sybase server from the SQL Advantage on
Windows 2000, it just stopped running. I really need help on issue. any idea
on how to make it work? Any hidden set up I need to know? Or it just doesn't
want to work on Windows 2000!

I just read this article in the sybase.public.sqlserver.nt newsgroup. This
solution works for me, and I have had the same problem you are describing.

Try run with a command line like a isql sqladv -Sserver_name -Uuser_name
-Ppasswors but you can not use menu connect and you can not tune global
preferences

Tida,

SQL Advantage is not certified for Win 2000. I currently have it running on
Win 2000 Advanced Server and ASE 12.0 without issue, but it was designed or
tested for 2000.

Your answer is not satisfactory. Many of us have this same issue. We can
install it and run it, but when we try to connect to a DB - it locks up SQL
Advantage. We understand that it is not certified for WIN2K, - we also
understand that SYBASE is no longer packaging this product with Sybase Open
Client. However, to use a 3rd party SQL package will only open more
skepticism for us. We have become quite reliant upon this tool for our
adhoc queries and as a support tool. It works well with NT4 and now that
we are migrating to WIN2k, we do not want to hear that it works ok for you,
we want to know WHY it works ok for you. Is there something special about
your install? Is it special to Advanced Server versus Professional? If
so, why and what? If not, then what needs to happen to make it work?

Hi,

There are other posting on your problem in user group
sybase.public.sqlserver.general and a fix for it.

Here are the things i found out, SQL Advantage ship with 11.5 does not work
on Win2000, however if you have 11.5.1 or 11.9.2 version, SQL advantage
shipped with these version will work on Win 2000. I have tried it and it
works fine..

Cheers.
