Server : NT4.0 SP4, SYBASE 11.0
When I connect to Sybase from Client computer, the speed is too slow . I
spent ten seconds to connect to Sybase Server.
InterfacesDriver Configuration : Namepipe \\server_name\pipe\sybase\query

But copy files among LAN computers are quickly enough.

Anyone know why?
Any factors reflect the speed?

We had the same problem. When we removed all the named pipes from the
sql.ini file and used only the NLWNSCK terms, connection speeded up greatly.
Here we could use either machine name or ip addresses, and the ip addresses
were marginally faster.
