Hi,

Is there a limit on the amount of memory that can be configured for ASE
11.9.2 on NT platform ?

We have an NT Server with 2GB of RAM but we aren't able to allocate more
than 1.5 GB for Sybase. Is that a limit ? If not, how do I go about
allocating, say 1.75 GB of RAM ?

Any help is highly appreciated.

Thanks,
Sridhar

This has been discussed numerous times in this forum, so a trawl through
deja news would provide a detailed answer.

But in brief, you need to upgrade NT to NT Enterprise Edition to use the
amount of memory you require. NT is the limitation here, not ASE.

cheers,

Not true. We are running ASE 12.0 on NT boxes with 2GB of RAM and are
allocating 1.8GB to Sybase. Per Tech Support, I ran sp_configure "shared
memory starting address", 23662592. My understanding of NT EE is for when
you want to run 3.xGB to 4GB of RAM. Still, then you can only allocate a max
of 3GB for "applications" such as ASE.
