Bill -

Just curios. Last time I checked the boards there seemed to be a ton
of PB jobs in Dallas. Are they phantom postings (or what I call
Phantom postings - they were posted but the company is indecisive) ,
or duplicate?

Jim:
Some of them are 'phamtom' postings. Others are really postings for web
developement. I'm strictly client/server experienced, and those postings in
the Dallas/Houston area seem 'few and far between.'

To clarify, ending my career not because of SAP, but because there is,
I think, ZERO new PB development in Houston, be it 2 tier or n-tier.
Bottom totally fell out.

Good point Bruce! However, when I looked a month or so ago, one or
two were very old - they have been on and off different boards for six
months - and then another one, if you look carefully, was posted by
multiple consulting companies, and lent the appearance of more
postings than really exist.

I haven't tried the market because I am not looking, but gee, PB
*seems* to have nearly disappeared here, especially compared to what
existed a few years ago. A lot of that is due to the slow market, I
know. It'll be interesting to see what happens with PB as the economy
ijmproves.

What I can tell you is that a corporate PB posting can garner a
thousand resumes and a flood of phone calls if the hiring manager's
name gets out.

what's frightening is that there are more listings on lotusnotesjobs.com
than powerbuilderjobs.com!!

Know what's pathetic, Tim? A friend of mine, a Lotus Notes
Administrator, just posted his resume on one of the boards and had
three phone calls the same afternoon for three different positions,
one with IBM. These were all local, no relocation and no traqvel
req'd.

One of the phone calls was an on-the-spot job offer with very good $$$
assuming his resume held up.

How times have changed.......
