Are there plans to add an option to forbid execution of selects with an
incorrect group by statement that would cause a cartesian product to be
generated?
I am asking this because is fair easy to do this validation (basically the
group by must have every column that is in the select list and are not
constants or used with an aggregated function) and I know that MS-SQLServer
has this feature.
I am asking this because it is relatively common to a developer to use
group by incorrectly and unfortunately in some cases this can reach
production level, when it become much more difficult to find this bad query
and correct it.

Thanks in advance,
Leonardo Pasta

We encounter that problem every now and then. I think that would be a good
idea

We discussed this here a month or two ago with no some real output.

I disagree.
Everybody, you the first, agreed that it would be great.

True question is : how to ask that to sybase company ?
