hi,

i have an application that is currently running in a sqlanywhere db. i am
using sqlanywhere network server v5.0.03 for db access. i am using vcafe
v3.0 jit.

the app connects to 4 tables using 4 java connections. i'm using prepared
statements.

when i use the jdbcodbc bridge everything works fine. however, when i use
jconnect v3.0 i get an exception on a select which says "column 'aP0' not
found". using the debugger i can see that the select statement is well
formed just before the executeQuery is issued. the only program changes are
the classForName and connect strings are different. also 3 other tables give
exactly the same results connecting either way.

anyone seen anything like this before? any ideas?

any help will be appreciated.

john cummings

Can you give us an example of what you're doing. As well, what version of the
driver?

hi,

here is the method that is throwing the exception. i can provide you with
more code depending on what you need. not sure how i get the version on the
driver. looking at the props attribute on the connection says it's ver 2. if
this isn't it, let me know what i need to do to get it.

public void getPhonesFor(Caller_V2 cv2)
{
DBCommand lCmd;
ResultSet rs;
DBPhoneNumber dbp;

try
{
lCmd = new DBCommand(dbPhoneConnect);
dbp = new DBPhoneNumber(dbPhoneConnect);
dbp.buildSelectCommand(lCmd);
dbp.selectData(lCmd,cv2);
rs = (lCmd.getStmt()).executeQuery();
if (rs != null)
dbp.getPhonesFor(cv2.collectionOfPhones(),rs);
lCmd.resetColumnCtr();
}
catch(java.sql.SQLException e)
{
System.out.println("Get Phones unsuccessful " +
getMessage());
}
}

That code looks like an abstraction of the actual JDBC code. I'd like to see
the JDBC to know whats going on. There was a bug in jConnect30 that may have
manifested itself this way. You may contact technical support for the most
recent release.

Make sure that you are not mixing arguments and passing params...

use:

?= call x(?,?,?)...etc for ALL arguments.

If you do not, then it will get passed as a language command instead of
an RPC. I believe
the intersolve driver does not adhere as tightly to the standard and
allows variations
(or so I have been told).

jConnect will only pass the command on as an RPC if setXX is used for
all arguments

i did a lot of testing last night. jconnect v3 & 4 are not producing the
same results on one of my parameterized select statement as the exact same
code run using the jdbcodbc bridge. the parameter is defined in sqlanywhere
as an integer and i use setInt(anInt) to set its value in the where clause.
it is the only parameter. if i either hard code a value or insert the
objects' value prior to the executeQuery() i'm ok. as soon as i introduce
the parameter on the statement i get "column 'aP0' not found". where is the
'aP0' coming from? is there any documented bug that shows this error
message?

any suggestions?

john,

if you can provide a compilable working example, I can

I would prefer as simple as possible:

A standalone program which:

creates the sproc and the sample data
simply executes your prepardstatement.

lance

i recreated the problem in a standalone application (ie. no 3rd party).
unfortunately, the db plus log files is approx 2.5 meg zipped. since i'm
only having the problem on one table in the database, i think you need this
db.

let me know what you want me to do
