I was wondering if there is an API available so that I could write a program
that would read directly the log file for a database and publish events out
without having to go thru the replication server. Clearly such an API
exists and most likely the LTM uses it, but is it public?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi,

There is no API available. The RepAgent on ASE read the log natively
and translate it to an LTM language that RepServer understands.

If you don't mind, could you pls. tell me what is the reason
you need this API for ? Are you planning to do some kind of
direct MQ Series messaging ?

I'm asking because I would like to know if there is sufficient
interest in publish database events directly on a MQ Series
using say MQ Series JAVA APIs ?

Publishing to MQ is part of what Sybase Event Broker (SEEB) does.

However I have a similar problem and I don't want the complication of
getting SEEB involved.
I would like to get rep server to give me the SQL so I can forward it to an
in memory database embedded in my client application - ie keeping the client
app's view of the db current.

Any clues how to do this ?

An Open Server might do it but surely someone has had a similar requirement
before (even if just for monitoring/logging purposes) and there's some code
I can nick ?
