I am using PowerBuilder 10.5 and have a tabular datawindow with a
datasource utilizing many tables. I had to change one of the columns
in the select (under Design:Data Source...) to use a different table,
and when I save it, the new column appears as the right most column in
the detail band (it was in the middle before). Now the columns are
out of order. I try to move the column by dragging but this isn't
allowed. Tryed to change the X coordinate of the column doesn't work
either because it is read-only. Is there any easy way to reorder the
columns in the detail band. The only thing I can think of is to start
over from scratch copying the new SQL into the Data Source window
knowing that the columns in the detail band will appear in the order
they are in the initial Select statement. But this means I have to
redo the entire datawindow. Anybody have any ideas on this?

Hi,
I seem to remember that new column is always added at the end,
I also remember that you have to modify column order (by dragging) in a
preview panel - but this applied to Grid presentation style.
Sometimes when I have to do something like described I modify dw source.

change query, then if required column definition and there you go. Also
check update properties after whole operation when column was part of
update scheme.

If you're not using SCC export dw source to keep a backup.

Are you sure it's a tabular style? Because that sounds an awful lot like a
grid... In a grid, you rearrange the columns in the Data Preview pane, not
in the designer pane. And you have to have Column Selection turned on (just
temporarily - you can turn it off after you're done).

Not what I'm talking about at all...

The datawindow painter is divided into separate "panes". One pane shows you
the "designer" view, where you drag and drop fields to reposition them.
This is where you go to reposition columns in every presentation style
EXCEPT "grid". For grid styles, you reposition columns in the "preview"
pane, where you can actually see the retrieved data.

If you're still confused, I can provide a screen shot of what I'm talking
about.
