Hi,

Does replication use one of your licenced users to do it jobs?

Regards

Mike

Hi Mike,
Yes, at the target server ADS does consume one user license to perform the
updates.

Hello Peter,

That would explain why I keep getting a support call from a customer who
says that occasionally one of the users cannot log in, then tries again a
few minutes later and is successful. The replication process is doing its
job.

It is actually quite a problem. The licencing is for example 5 users, 10
users etc.. so for a 5 user system we actually need 6 which drives up the
cost especially as we are already paying extra for replication to be enabled.

I will take this issue up with my local sales person.

Regards

Hello Peter,

I have checked the price list (UK) and it says "Advantage Replication is
purchased for the corresponding user count of the Advantage Database Server
from which replication will be enabled."

It does not say it will reduce the number of licenced users by 1.

Regards

Mike

Hi Mike,

Yes, every instance of ADS replicating to a target database server consumes
one license.
