Hi,

Does anyone know how I can change the row size limit of a table? I have
been given a "Row size could exceed row size limit, which is 1962 bytes"
warning creating a large table.

Thanks in advance...

Cheers,
Thuc

You can create tables that could potentially exceed the 1960 bytes per row limit. But if
in practice you never exceed the limit then you're OK. The limit cannot be increased in
any version of ASE through 12.0. 12.5 will allow for much larger row size limits.

Jim,

Do you have any idea what the row size limit is for 12.5 or how I can find
out?

Many Thanks,
Thuc

Somewhere around 16K if your server is using 16K pages.

Thanks Jim.

Is there a function or system procedure to count the row size to monitor it?

cheers,
Thuc

I have a spreadsheet that will create SQL code that can then be used to count the number of
bytes used in a row.
