Hi, it's me again.

I am still working with the evaluation version of DW.net and I am
doing some deployment testing, mostly to evaluate the size of the
runtime files needed.

So I copied the files that I think are needed for deployment and when
I try to run my program on the test computer, it tells me that
PBTL100.DLL is missing. The file does not exist anywhere and I
couldn't find any info on that file in the help files or on Sybase's
site. Which tells me that I can't deploy, even for a test, with the
evaluation version of DW Designer.

Am I right?

Thanks!

Simon.

Hi Simon,

I'm checking with engineering for the definitive answer but you may
not be able to test your application on a test computer without
installing the DataWindow .NET evaluation because I think it is
related to the evaluation software.

I'll post engineering's response here once it is received.

Dave Fish

Hi Dave,

Sorry to bother you but I just wanted to know if you had any feedback
from engineering.

Thanks!

Simon.

No bother. Sorry I forgot to post this follow up:

According to engineering if the program can't find the DLL then it
will continue to run. Let me know if that isn't the case for you.

The DLL is a timelock DLL for the evaluation version. After the 60
days it should still run in deployment but it won't work with
DataWindow Designer or when running from Visual Studio.

Hope that helps.

Dave Fish

Hi,

I runned FileMonitor from SysInternals (http://www.sysinternals.com),
a diagnostic tool to watch all the access to the files, and it
confirmed that the program is really looking for PBTL100.DLL and
doesn't want to run without it.

If I run it on my computer, the one with DW Designer and VB.Net
installed, it does not look for this DLL.

Anyway, it's not for a real deployment, so it's not very important
right now.

Thank you!

Simon Blais.
