Hello
Powerbuilder 11.1 build 8123/ms sql server

I have built a dw with column headings. When data prints to the dw,
the user wants
the headings and the data. When no data prints, the user wants
headings and a message
stating there is not data for the selected date.

I used a computed field for the message of no data using an "if". I
placed this computed fld in the Header under the column headings (The
user wanted the message below the headings) . Problem is when there
IS data, the message does not print (which is correct) but there is
too much space between the headings and the beginning of the data.

Is there a better way to do this?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

thanks!

Yes, move the compute to the foreground layer.

You can check in the code if the there is data or there is
no data and use modify to re-size the header height.
ex.
dw_1.modify("datawindow.header.height = '200'")

At the DW painter, resize the header height so that the
message would be visible, and then note its height. Then
resize again to hide the message and then note its height.
you can see the height value in the properties window. use
those values you noted for the modify statement to make the
resizing accurate.
