Hi,
Until now we worked only on Sun Solaris/Spark and we add to use the
reverse fuction to send data to an intel device, now we would like to
have some plateforms on intel (or AMD, whatever) .

Is there a quick way to know wich kind of plateform we are running
on ?

Thanks in advance

If you are trying to figure out if you are on a big-endian or
little-endian system, you could do something like convert(int, 0x00000001)
and see if the value is 1 or 16777216

On my Windows server (intel):

1> select convert(int, 0x00000001)
2> go

-----------
16777216

(1 row affected)

On Sun Sparc:

1> select convert(int, 0x00000001)
2> go

-----------
1

(1 row affected)

Do you mean to find a way to know on what platform an ASE server
is running ? Then you can check the @@version variable.

if @@version like "%Sun_svr4%" then the server isrunning on a Sparc system.
@@version will contain another string when you run on intel.
At least, that's what I suppose it will. I'm waiting for some time now to
get an intel version of ASE from sybase ...

Luc.

Fine Luc we thought about that already but it is too specific, I
cannot rely on the machine , I need something more generic.
