Hi all,

I was trying to set the background colour of individual cells within a
DataWindow. Like a cell in row=1, column=1 must be RED. A cell in
row=2, column=1 must be BLUE.

I thought this would be quite easy. But now I can't do it.

Is this at all doable? Can someone please help out?

Thanking you for your time.

Best regards,
-A

Use the expression on Font/Background color and add a case statement:
case( getrow() when .. then ...).

Thanks a lot Jerry and Arthur for your answers. It helped a lot.

I have a little different requirement from the conventional ones. I
need to set the cell colour to GREEN/BLUE (or another colour) only if
a particular column in the DataWindow is suppressed.

Can you guys please tell me how I can determine if the column is
suppressed?

Thanks and Regards,
-A

You mean Suppress Repeating Values? You can refer to a relative row of a
column, like my_column = my_column[-1]. I have put in an enhancement request
to make the documentation of that feature easier to find. And don't forget
to test for row 1, which will not have a previous row!

Hi Jerry,

I placed a DW expression in the background property of the column.
Suppose I have a column named material_type on the DW.

I referenced it in my DW expression as material_type for the column in
the current row and material_type[-1] for the column in the previous
row. Is this what you wanted to say?

Anyhow, I used it as I mentioned above and it worked.

Thanks a lot and please confirm whether this is the right way to
proceed.

Best regards,

Thanks a lot and please confirm whether this is the right way to
proceed.

Best regards,
-A

See that little button next to the color property on the background tab?
That will let you set an expression to return a color (a Long number). The
If and Case functions will help a lot! (and if you are after even/odd rows,
Mod)
