How about adding functionality to drop columns from replication definitions.
I currently takes 10 - 20 minutes to drop a replication definition then
recreate it with all the subscriptions on our system.

Could it be that the underlying problem is that creating/dropping
replication defs can be very slow when you have many of these? I've
had a case with one of my customers (case #20290798) where this was a
real problem. It has to do with refreshing the STS cache -- I hope
this will be fixed soon.

The fixing the refresh of STS cache will not fix the problem in out case and
in many others. To change
a single table (drop a column or change the unique index) we would have to
drop 81 subscriptions and
9 replication definitions then replace 9 replication definitions then
replace the susbcriptions.

If a drop column count be done like the "alter replication definition add
column column_name"
function it would be a matter of seconds.
Thanks
