I have a datetime field on a dw. It is for display only (no input). I
formatted it to display only the time hh/mm AM/PM. When there is not
data in a certain record it automatically diplays '12:00 AM'. How can
I make this not happen? I want it to be blank in those cases.

Thanks for any help.

A display format can have mutliple formats. For numbers, I frequently
use four: positive values, negative values, zero, and NULL. I'm sure
there are multiple formats available for datetime columns as well.
You'll want to specify a format for NULL values... probably something like
"hh/mm AM/PM;''"

You might have to dig through the online books to get the exact details.

Thanks for responding. I am not sure if I understand what you wrote,
and I want to better understand.
What I want is for this field not to print anything when it is null.
Currently, when there is a value in this field
in a record, then the time prints (that is the way I have it
formatted) - e.g. 3:45 P.M..

But if no time was input (which is common) then the value 12:00 AM
prints by default. I DO NOT want '12:00 AM' to print as a default for
a null value.
I want nothing to print for null values.

thanks for any help you can give me

A simple method is to change the font color Conditionally to white
(Assuming Date_timeCOl is the columnName)
e,g, If(isNull( date_timeCol ), 255*255*255, 0)
OR If (Time(date_timeCol) = '0:00' , 255*255*255, 0)

Although If this is not a printable report, I prefer to have a lighter
color so that the person entering the data knows what he is entering.
For a pure report, the above script will work well

Thanks, that is a great idea. Yes this is a pure report.
