Hi All

What is the best way to encrypt data stored in the database so a user useing
sql query tools can not see the actual values stored in a field. We need to
store a pin value but do not want someone to be able to see the actual PIN
value when he does a select on the table

TIA
Jaco Grobler

Jaco,

You can revoke select at the column level on your table from groups (i.e.,
from public or a named group), roles or specific users, thereby preventing
people from accessing the row with the PIN in it. See the 'revoke' command
in the Reference Manual.

sorry, when I said "thereby preventing people from accessing the ROW with
the PIN in it" I obviously meant to write "thereby preventing people from
accessing the COLUMN with the PIN in it"
