Server: ASE 11.9.2. NT 4.0 SP 5
Sybase Central Client: 11.9.2 PC Client tools on NT 4.0 SP 5 w/IE 5.0 virus

When I attempt to start a monitor, I get a message that says:
"Unable to launch Monitor screen. Please check your Java environment
configuration"

I went through all of the checks in the Help file about the java environment
configuration and everything is copacetic. I searched the Infobase for
similar problems and found one occurrance where this happened in 11.5
because it couldn't handle long filenames with spaces in the CLASSPATH
environment variable. This was supposedly fixed in 11.9.2. Just to be
sure, I removed all of the long filenames in both the CLASSPATH and PATH
environment variables, and it still goes boom when I try to start a monitor.

Any suggestions? I get this error on all of the machines (similar
configuration) that I've tried on the network.

Thanks in advance!

I have had the same problem.
But, I simply instaled the java-enviroment (jre-1_8_004_win.exe) from
www.javasoft.com and everything works fine for now.
