Does anyone know what has happenned to SQL advantage in ASE 12.0. I've heard
rumours that it's been replaced with JISQL, but hav not been able to use
that, although it has been installed. ASE 12 is currently running as a test
platform on NT4 SP6 (Workstation). Any help on this matter would be much
appreciated as the output isql is a bit too primative, and most of our
developers prefer the graphical interface, like SQL advantage.

Thanks in advance

When SQL Advantage is installed in the ASE 12.0 Server on NT is appears to
cause some problems such as duplicated server listings in Sybase Central. I
also feel that ISQL is primative like the old line editor in CPM or UNIX
environments.

Just get SQL Advantage from your 11.9.2 installation. It only requires the
EXE and a couple of DLLs. You can run the EXE in a directory on its own and
it will tell you the DLLs that are missing when it fails to load.

Hi Jeremy,

Yep, SQL Advantage did go the way of the Dodo bird. JISQL requires the Java
Runtime Enviroment (JRE) v1.1.16 or higher. You can get it from Sun
(http://java.sun.com). You can install SQL Advantage from older versions of
the Win32 client if you want. It should work.

Jermey,

ASE 11.5 or ASE 11.9.2 comes with a 'PC Client' cd that
has SQL Advantage on it. SQL Advantage from either version
will work with ASE 12, ASE 11.9.2, ASE 11.5, ASE 11 and System 10.

Here are the files you need:

sqladv.exe %SYBASE%\bin
mtl70mt.dll windows\system
widge32.dll windows\system

Put them all in the same directory for sql advantage to work.
