I have a DB applet authored with PowerJ 2.5. I am using jConnect 3.0 to
provide access to the ASA 6 database. I have the applet deployed on my
local machine under a PowerDynamo web server. The database server is a
seperate physical machine. When I request the html page containing my
applet from my machine which is running the PowerDynamo Personal Web server
My applet connects successfully to the database and presents the data. When
requesting the page from a different machine via IE4 on my intranet my
applet loads but I recieve a security exception from IE4 and my data isn't
retrieved. I didn't think I had to use a gateway configuration for this
arrangement. Am I mistaken?

if the database is on a different machine than the machine hosting the
webserver, you will need to use a proxy server or a trusted applet to
access the backend database
