Can anyone tell me how appeon is starting 2 dbeng7.exe processes at window
startup? I've checked services and throughout the registry.

Hi Larry,

I am almost certain that they are setup as two individual Windows services.
The services are named something like AppeonSample and AppeonDB. I will
double-check with our engineers and get back to you as soon as they return
from the Chinese New Year vacation.

Regards,

Armeen

Yes you are correct I found that the other day. THe problem is that if I
turn on these engines to start automatically then I cannot connect to any
existing JDBC data sources. Ping fails as does trying to connect.

Not sure what you mean when you say "turn on these engines to start
automatically." Do you mean starting SQL Anywhere as a service?

I originally thought that they were services but they are not. In Sybase
Central you can set up these databases to start automatically.

BUt it still makes no sense that when these DBs are running that I cannot
connect to any other JDBC sources.
