Hi ,

I have a customer who say he can recover single objects of a ASE 11.5.x
using the SQL Backtrack tool from BMC. Has anybody some experience with
this tool.

Question 1: If you can do it with SQL Backtrack can you do it with the
normal dump and load command as well?

Question 2: If not os there another precedure in place to restore single
tablespaces/objects of an ASE 11.5.x. If yes some kind of hint or
instructions would be most welcome.

Have Fun

No. SQL BT does logical dumps rather than physical dumps in order
to support this feature.

You could load your dump into another database and then use select/
insert to get the data (if on the same server) or use bcp if on
another server.

We use SQL-BT for all our ASE backups.

No. SQL-BackTrack comes with two types of backups (logical and physical)
that both can be used to restore single objects within the database. These
are enhancements beyond what you get from Sybase.
