Hi, all.
I have a client who wants to test and eventually buy ADS to use with VFP.

Which it's the best way to connect VVP with ADS? Is there any sample code ?

I dont know much about VFP.

Any help would be very apreciatted.

Many thanks.
Pedro

Hi Pedro.

There are many ways you can access ADS from VFP:

- Using SQL passthrough commands: SQLCONNECT() or SQLSTRINGCONNECT() to
connect to an ADS database using its ODBC driver, SQLEXEC() to execute
queries or stored procedures, and SQLDISCONNECT() to disconnect.

- Using remote views, which, like other views, are essentially
pre-defined SQL statements but access the ADS database through its ODBC
driver.

- Using the CursorAdapter class to connect to either the ODBC driver or
OLE DB provider.

- You can even use the ADS API, but that's really doing things the hard
way.

The VFP help file has topics on each of these mechanisms (except the
last one, of course). You can also check out
http://www.code-magazine.com/focus/Article.aspx?quickid=0301062 for an
article about using the CursorAdapter class (although it isn't specific
for ADS).

Doug
