Hey i have installed the Win32 Client for Afaria 5.5 and try to integrate
the XEClientLib into my c# Project.

THe connection the events are working perfectly. But my problem is when i
set the Authenticate Value to 1 i cannot pass the Username or the
UserPassword to the API.

I'm still getting prompted for the Username and the Password
(Authentication is activated on the Afaria Server)

Hope somebody can help.

Michael

Michael,

Those properties are not meant for Win32, they are meant for Windows Mobile
operating systems since there is no currently logged in user for that OS.

Win32 Clients will use the currently logged in user (a.k.a
<InteractiveUserName>) when the Afaria Client is installed as an
application. If the Afaria Client is installed as a Windows Service, then
the account that was specified in the Afaria Client Installation File is
what is configured or DCOM as the "RunAs" user credentials. These settings
can be overridden using registry settings (see KB #1840 below). Note: The
user credentials are cached in the cookie file called usrprops.jar on the
Client.

Here are a couple of Afaria Knowledgebase Articles that may help you:

FAQ: How is Afaria Authentication performed when using the 32-bit
browser/stealth Afaria Client?
http://frontline.sybase.com/support/resolutionDetails.aspx?KBID=772

FAQ: How do enabling authentication and authentication timeouts function?
http://frontline.sybase.com/support/resolutionDetails.aspx?KBID=438

FAQ: What is the usrprops.jar file on Afaria clients? When is this cookie
file updated or overwritten?
http://frontline.sybase.com/support/resolutionDetails.aspx?KBID=1281

The [Username] passed by Afaria Client for Channel Assignments and/or
Authentication is not the [InteractiveUserName].

Thanks,
Chris

Michael,
There are tools that our professional services team has written that can
provide for multiple concurrent sessions from one machine. I can put them
in contact with you if you have a need to perform this type of testing. I
will check with them and see if they have a configuration setting for the
user name that is passed for Afaria Assignments and Authentication.

I am curious as to what type of hardware you expect to run 100
concurrent sessions. An average machine will run 60 or so comfortably
before you are invalidating your testing due to OS, NIC, and/or memory
limitation of the test machine....

Thanks,
Chris
