I upgraded V8.01 to V8.02, rebooted the server and Sybase works fine...but
it took out all my ODBC capabilities for NON-SYBASE ODBC!

All my other applications now show:

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers (0x80004005)
[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default
driver specified

I've done this upgrade through different versions before ---- what has
Sybase installation done to kill my other applications? Will Sybase help
me fix this issue? Can I just do an Uninstall? Please help me! My other
systems are all done for 24 hours now!

Looking further on the web, I noticed that after installing Crystal Reports,
it takes ODBC as well because registry key permissions were changed.
(Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 272693 )

What registry changes were made during the V8.02 update which caused this
problem on my Windows 2000 SBS server?

Where can I find any information - I'm sure I'm not the only site that uses
other products besides Sybase on the same server!

For any urgent issue you should open a case with Tech Support. If you
don't already have it, contact information can be found at:
http://www.sybase.com/contact_us/1,6856,4,00.html

This is the first report that I have heard of any problem with the 8.0.2
install, particularly in relation to ODBC. I have worked with customers who
have already installed the 8.0.2 patch and have not encountered any
problems. This simply indicates that the problem may not be immediately
obvious.

In addition to opening your case with Tech Support, you may also find it
worthwhile to post a complete description of the problem you are
encountering to the newsgroup sybase.public.sqlanywhere.general which is
more highly focused on ASA. Some relevant information to include when you
open your case would be:

1) What build number of 8.0.1 you previously had installed.
2) What operating system you are working on.
3) What version of the MDAC components was on the system prior to installing
the 8.0.2 patch.
4) What version of the MDAC components was on the system after installing
the 8.0.2 patch.
5) Any errors or warnings encountered during the patch install.
6) Did you reboot after applying the patch?
7) Since this is an ODBC issue, if you check the registry and/or the ODBC
Driver Manager what ODBC datasources do you see and are they correct?
