Hi. On the way to work this morning, I stopped by a customer site to help
them with their ASA 7 to ASA 8 upgrade.
We copied the upgrade cd to the server and executed setup from the server.

The current ASA was installed in ...\Sybase\SQL Anywhere7.. and we chose to
place the upgrade in ...\Sybase\SQL Anywhere 8..

We selected all the defaults and the Sybase 8 install/upgrade proceeded
without error.

We rebooted the computer and then when into the Sybase 8 SC to edit
properties on the existing service.
I changed the SQL Anywhere 7\dbsrv7 reference to SQL Anywhere 8\dbsrv8.
When I selected 'finish' a java GPF was issued. I was unable to point the
service to dbsrv8.
I fired-up ASA7 SC and deleted the service. Then, using the asa7 SC, I
created a service pointing to dbsrv8.
That seemed to work.

Any ideas why I cannot use the ASA8 SC to establish the dbsrv8 service?

Thaniks,
Doug

Its hard to say without the specifics java GPF. Is the problem consistent
with all your install procedures or just this one site?

Chris, this is the first time we encountered this particular upgrade
problem.

I didn't see a version or build number info. That would probably be helpful
as well.

Robert, I'm not at the customer site, but I believe it was the latest
maintenance version/build.
Thanks,
Doug
