Hi,

I tried to install ManageAnywhere evaluation version in two different
versions
on two different boxes, but there are always the same problems.

Current configuration is version 5.91380.0 - based. There is a Primary
Command
Server running on a Windows 2000 Server box (IIS 5), a Remote Console on
a NT 4.0 SP6.a and an agent on Windows 2000 Professional box. There is no
version mix, at least I uninstalled older versions and installed the same
version
to all machines.

It's possible to receive an agent through web server and the agent can
connect via http
to the Primary Command Server Box. However, one step later I get a message
"Unable to retrieve relay server" in the window of the agent.

The Console Application located on Primary Command Server does not get any
new entries in machines tree. I think, these entries are nessecary to send
files or
packages to the boxes to be administrated?

The Remote Console box connects to Primary Command Server.
It writes the following lines to rstate_04-29-2003.log:
<
13:02:52.735 (1) mhttp.cpp, Server Failure: bIgnoreFailure = 0, 0x80000027
13:02:53.606 (1) mainet.cpp, Der angeforderte Header wurde nicht gefunden.,
2f76
13:02:53.666 (1) mhttp.cpp, CMAHttpMail::PostMessage - Exception!, 0x2
13:02:53.666 (1) mhttp.cpp, Das System kann die angegebene Datei nicht
finden., 0x2
>
(header not found, file not found).
It asks me for login, but does not accept any login I type. I used
workaround number 2
with Windows 2000 (file and registry permissions) and I added users to
Primary Command
Server Console. I restarted the boxes several times.

All these things happened with former version (was 4.6. something), too.

Thanks in advance,
Volker

Is the agent installation pointing to the correct server?

Is the Relay Server rule defined?

If so, is the ASA database running at the Primary Command Server? Usually
when I install the product I configure ASA as an automatic service running
dbsrv8.

Both the authentication and the Relay Server rule lookup require database
access.

Yes, I think so. If I press the "Test Server" button it says "Successfully
connected
to HTTP Server. Test completed." I took the name of the Primary Command
Server,
because I've not installed a Relay Server.

> Is the Relay Server rule defined?
No. Then I choose "Add New Rule" in Architecture tree of the console, the
listbox
with Relay Server names is empty. It doesn't even show the name of the
Primary
Command Server, not in the listbox and nowhere else.

Yes, the ASA database is running. It was version 7.0.3. I changed it to 8
and it is
now an automatic service. I can reach it locally with isql tool and it shows
the
tables and data which come from ManageAnywhere installation. Unfortunately,
there are no new data entries from machines with agents.

For the agents to correctly communicate with the command server there has
to be at least one Relay rule defined -- spanning from -0.0.0.0 to
255.255.255.255. Usually it comes by default during installation -- if your
console does not show it and ASA is indeed running, then add it. That is
the reason why you keep on seeing "Unable to Retrieve Relay Server" error
messages.

The rule should default to the IP address of the Primary Command Server.

The console login issue is another thing though. Check the DBA.SecureUsers
table to see if any records are in there. There should be at least one --
the one that you configured to be the Master Administrator during
installation of te Primary Command Server. Can you attempt to use exactly
that user to log in from the console? Or, if you can access the admin
console right at the Primary Command Server, can you check or add other
users through the File -> Modify Site Security section to define users who
has access to the admin console?

Hi and sorry for the delay, I've not been in the office over the last days.

I tried to do it. Now I have 3 rows in the table routingrules (yes, I tried
it 3 times).
These entries are not visible in the Primary Command Server Console.
RuleServerID
is (NULL), isDefault is 0, RuleOrder is 0, RuleType is 1. The RuleId column
holds
different some registry-style values. The "Unable to Retrieve Relay Server"
error
message is still there.

Yes, the Master Administrator is visible in isql tool and in Primary Command
Server
Console. It is a local account, so I don't think, I can use the account from
the remote box
(at least I don't know how to do it). So, anyway, I added an account from
the Windows
domain. This is visible in SecureUsers table and in Primary Command Server
Console.
Unfortunately, the Remote Console is still asking me for network login and
tells me
"User does not have access to this site" in a message box. I restarted both
boxes.

By the way, I can't find the ASA 8 server with isql tool Find Server feature
from remote
box. There is a server listening to port 7263, but this is something
different.
This remote Interactive SQL tool is version 8.0.1 build 2600. ASA 8 Server
is an 30 day
evaluation copy, it is not expired.

Thank you for help and your patience
