Need some design ideas how to accomplish the following task.
Need to show the availability of a hotel room like in the below link.
http://www.tripseurope.com/apartment.php?apt=Copernic

There are two tables (booking and Properties)
The columns concerned are
bookings.Property_id (fk)
bookings.start_date
bookings.end_date

Does PB11.5 have a Gantt style chart??
How can I do this in the least simple way??

PB11.2

You can find some interesting ideas at http://www.dw-extreme.com/
The datawindow is amazingly flexible if you use a bit of ingenuity!

Yeah already knew about dwextreme.
But to purchase his planner object is overkill for what I want and
also is a grade or two above my capability to design something like
that..

Is there not another simplier way??

No canned solution if that's what you mean. My off-the-cuff design would be
rows of 1 date + 31 statuses [stati?] with a domain of available, booked,
non-existent [Feb 30]. Insert as many rows as you want months. Set the
month/year for each row. Retrieve the booking data in a separate datastore,
then walk the dates to set each status. The blocks are rectangles with their
color expressions referring to the status values. A 3-month calendar in an
application I once worked on actually called a stored procedure to populate
an array of status values for a range of dates, I don't know if your DBMS
would support that.

I wouldn't try to retrieve the data and present it in one hit.
Instead create a presentation datawindow with 31 flag columns, one for
each day. (Or an n-up style datawindow with 31 rows..)
Create an object (column, rectangle ...) that has a background colour
expression based on the value of the flag column.
Then loop through the actual data in a datastore and for each day
between the start and end dates set the value of the appropriate flag
column.

Depending on the usage we did two kinds of implementation. When the
datawindow is used for entering data or selecting days and displaying
additional information in each date field we use a datawindow with 62
columns and 12 rows. The additional columns are used for coloring the first
31 columns.
If the data is only for presentation we create rectangles with modify(
"create...").
