Hi Guys,

I am still unable establish a tcp/ip remote link to a DD on my PC

If I Ctrl-R in ARC and put //192.168.0.2:6262/ in and Connect, it finds the
Server Ok. But, if I put //192.168.0.2:6262/E$/AAAA Application &
Data/Data/AAAA Members.add to get to the actual DD it asks me for the User Name
& Password OK, but clicking OK, nothing happens.

The actual DD is on/at E:\AAAA Application & Data\Data\AAAA Members.add

Should ARC Open the DD in this Mode?

If I use the New Connection Wizard in ARC and use the fo;;owing settings..
Data base Name - AAAA Members
Connection Path - //192.168.0.2:6262/E$/AAAA Application & Data/Data/AAAA
Members.add
Server Type - Remote
Communication Type - tcp/ip
Username - AdsSys
BalankPassword - no

Click Finish - It asks me for the User Name & Password - and on clicking OK I
get a Error 7078 - Can't authenticate the user. However if I set up a local
connection with the same Usrname & Password it works.

I suspect the two remote issues are related. What have I missed please?

Regards & TIA,

Ian

Hi Ian,

You should check the ads_err.adt or ads_err.dbf on the server for the path
associated with that error. My guess is that the path is not handled
correctly by either the server or the client.
